Scott Roen, 71, died Sunday, December 29, 2024 unexpectedly at his home in Castle Danger.
Scott was born January 1, 1953 to Palmer and Evelyn (McCorison) Roen, and grew up in and around Gooseberry Falls State Park, where Palmer was the first Park Manager.
Scott dedicated his life to stewardship: of his friends and family, his pets, communities of faith, and the environment. He retired from a career with the Department of Natural Resources in 2012.
Scott was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Castle Danger, where he was baptized, attended Sunday and Vacation Bible School, was confirmed, changed roof cross lightbulbs, and made meaningful connections with everyone he chanced to meet.
He enjoyed telling tales, fixing cars, and finding the good in people. His unshakable optimism, and passion for life were familiar to anyone who had the privilege to know him and will be fiercely missed.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, and his faithful West Highland Terrier, Fred.
He is survived by his three children, Matt (Tony), Inga, and Nick Roen, and his brother, Paul Roen, and a recently adopted Dachshund, Muttly.
A visitation (10am) and service (11am), followed by refreshments will be held on Saturday, January 4th at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Castle Danger.
