Ronald A. Kappes, 81, of Two Harbors died Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
He was born to Felix and Helen (Wagener) Kappes in Ada, MN and grew up and attended schools in Twin Valley, MN. Ron enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1960 until 1961. He moved to Two Harbors in 1997 and was self-employed as a cement finisher until his retirement in 2019.
Ron enjoyed his cement work, cutting wood, cooking, caring for his chickens, joking around, and reading the paper.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and David; and sister, Evelyn Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; children Renae (Chad) Guetzkow of Mayer, MN, Chris (Courtney) Kappes of Duluth, and Michelle Guzman of Fairfield, CA; grandchildren Taylor, Kayley, Carter, Ella, and Bama; step-children, Kari Nelson and Kelsey Nelson; step-grandson, Mikko; and sisters, Margery Boe, Bernice Machala, and Verena DeLong.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Duluth. An open house will follow at the West Duluth American Legion Post #71, 5814 Grand Ave Duluth. To share your memories or condolences online please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
