Rita Claire Kelly, 93, of Silver Bay, died Saturday, April 6, 2024 at her home.
She was born December 31, 1930 to Vincent and Agnes (Dumontet) Driscoll on the family farm in East Grand Forks, where she grew up and attended school. After graduating from Sacred Heart, Rita met Robert Kelly and the two were married on June 24, 1952. Soon after Robert was drafted into the US Army, and upon his discharge the couple made their home in Silver Bay.
Rita was a homemaker through the years and after her children were grown she was employed at Reserve Mining and Lutsen.
She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its church circles. Rita enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and baking.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Robert; infant son, David; grandchildren, Caitlin and Bruce; sister, Colleen; and brother, Kenneth.
Rita is survived by her children, Kathleen (Bruce) Ramsey; Kenneth Kelly; Patrick Kelly; Susan Kelly; Brian Kelly; and Robert (Melinda) Kelly; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lois and Elaine.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Silver Bay.
