Michael A. Scheidt

Michael A. Scheidt, 71, of Silver Bay, died Sunday, March 12, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Mike was born in Jamestown, North Dakota to Raymond Michael A. Scheidt and DeLaine (Monson) Scheidt and grew

up and attended schools all over the states – graduating highschool in Michigan City, Indiana, and later obtaining a degree from WITC in Superior, WI.

Mike moved to Silver Bay around 1990 and was employed at LaBounty Manufacturing as a welder and later in the parts department until his retirement.

Many knew him as “coach Scheidt”, as he coached both boys and girls basketball over the years. While Eric & Leah were his only biological children, he took in many of their friends as his own, who still call him “old man” today.

Beneath the surface of a tough old iron worker with a crude sense of humor, Mike had one of the kindest hearts you’ll ever find. You could see this in his love of animals, and willingness to help out a friend at the drop of a hat.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed fishing, sports, and spending time with friends and family. Like his son, Mike was a lifelong, diehard Green Bay Packers fan.

As a keeper of unlimited trivial facts, he often stated that a good day was marked by whether or not you’d learned something new.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his father – Raymond Scheidt, son – Eric Scheidt in April of 2022; and brother – Kent Scheidt. Mike is survived by his daughter, Leah (Alex) Conboy; grandchildren Campbell, Emogene, and Rylee; his mother, DeLaine McCune; Sisters Diane Bryant and Valerie McConnell, and many special “outlaws” as he’d call his ex-wife, Gina’s family, who stuck with him until the end.

A celebration of life with Mike’s family and friends will take place at a later date. To share your memories or condolences online please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com .
