Janet L. Haveri, 80, died Monday, September 18, 2023, at Carefree Living in Silver Bay.
Janet was born October 12, 1942, to Everett and Dorothy (Johnson) Tonnar in Flint, Michigan and moved to the Silver Bay area as a child. She graduated from William Kelley High School in 1960 and was a homemaker through the years her children were growing up.
In the mid 1980’s she returned to school and earned an associate degree in nursing in New Richmond, Wisconsin. She worked for many years for Lake County Home Health, leading the WIC Program and new baby visits.
Janet was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Finland and was an active member and volunteer in the Finland community. She enjoyed dancing with Darwyn, quilt-ing, camping, 4-wheeling, and was “the best pie baker”.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Darwyn in April of this year; and sisters, Joni and Lila. She is survived by a daughter, Dawna (Brian) Sandmann; a son, Bruce (Mi-chelle) Haveri; granddaughters, Mindy (Josh) Tuorila and Carly (Isaac) Sandmann; great-grandchildren, Kara, Lynk and Eisa; brothers, Everett “Butch” (Joan) Tonnar, Bernard (Sue) Tonnar, Steve (Edna) Ton-nar, Larry (Gerene) Tonnar, Terry Tonnar, and Robert (Virginia) Tonnar; brothers-in-law, William Haley and Michael Holland; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend of over 70 years, Connie (Richard) Schumann.
A Graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Crystal Bay Cemetery. Visitation will follow from 10 AM until the 11 AM memorial service at the Clair Nelson Center in Finland, followed by a Celebration of Life lunch and sharing time in honor of Janet and Darwyn.
