Dorene L. Morrison, 87, Beaver Bay, died Saturday, April 6, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Dorene was born on September 11, 1936, to George and Luella (Nason) Flinders in Fort Frances, Ontario, where she grew up and attended school. As a young lady, she met Ronald Morrison and, after his discharge from military service, they married April 23, 1955. In 1957, she moved to the North Shore and they have made their home in Beaver Bay since 1962. Dorene was proud to gain her U.S. citizenship on May 21, 1963. She was a homemaker through the years, and was a member of the birthday club, bowling league and HarborMates.
She enjoyed crafting with friends. Dorene was preceded in death by her father, George Flinders, her mother, Luellla Nason, her stepfather, Fred Clemenger; a sister, Mary Lou Allen; a stepsister, Cathy Kerelick; a brother-in-law, Joe Tremblay; and a granddaughter, Lindsay Morrison.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; a son Ed (Terry) Morrison; a daughter Michelle Morrison; grandchildren, Jennifer, Autumn, Lane, and Miranda; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Holly and Emma; siblings, Pamela Rose Tremblay, Diane (Gary) Miller; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Allen.
Memorials preferred to Shriners Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Services were held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors, followed by burial in Beaver Bay Cemetery.
