Notice is hereby given that the Lake County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on behalf of, and authorized by, the Lake County Board of Commissioners on March 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Law Enforcement Center, 613 Third Avenue, Two Harbors, MN 55616 at which time interested parties shall have the opportunity to discuss the granting of the following request:
In accordance with Lake County Land Use Ordinance #12, an application for a Conditional Use has been filed by Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary, which, if approved, would allow for the construction of a nature based retreat center with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and people of color with lodging for 32 people that will host occasional community events on the property described as SE ¼ of the NW ¼ and Govt Lot 3 as Desc in Bk of Deeds 23, pg 266 less than part Desc in Bk of Titles 53, pg 98; Twp 52, Rge 11, Sections 29-30-31, 20 acres, zoned shoreland; R-1/Residential District; 10 acre minimum , Silver Creek Township.
