V-25-009– Motion by Hoops supported by Wattunen to approve the request with conditions for relief from the shoreline setback to expand a nonconforming deck and to construct an addition and entryway to a nonconforming cabin (Lake County Land Use Ordinance #12, Section 7.0, Article 7.03A) filed by David & Nancy Markwardt. The property in question is located at 285 Shady Lane, Ely, MN 55731 and is legally described as: W 825 ft of Lot 6, W 165 ft of NE 1/4 of SW 1/4 of SW 1/4, W 1/2 of SW 1/4 of SW 1/4, All of Gov Lot 5 exc N 1690.14 ft all in Section 8, Township 63, Range 11 33.2 acres, zoned shoreland (Browns Lake), RR/Residential- Recreational District, 1 acre minimum, Fall Lake Township. PID 28-6311-08565 / 08620 / 08630 / 08380. Motion carried, Hoops, Wattunen, and Fogelberg voted in favor; none opposed.
V-25-010– Motion by Fogelberg supported by Wattunen to approve the request with conditions for relief from the shoreline setback to connect a garage and nonconforming structure (Lake County Land Use Ordinance #12, Section 7.0, Article 7.03A). Motion carried, Hoops, Wattunen, and Fogelberg voted in favor; none opposed. Motion by Wattunen supported by Hoops to approve the request with conditions for relief from the right of way setback for a storage addition to a garage (Lake County Land Use Ordinance #12, Section 6.0, Article 6.01) Motion carried, Hoops and Wattunen voted in favor. Fogelberg voted in opposition. The request was filed by Kevin & Angela Gray. The property in question is located at 1460 Kane Lake Road, Two Harbors, MN 55616 and is legally described as: Outlot 8 & W 1/2 of Outlot 9 of Govt Lot 5 in Section 30, Township 56, Range 10 0.77 acres, zoned shoreland (Kane Lake), RR/ Residential-Recreational District, 1 acre minimum, Silver Creek Township. PID 29- 5610-30934 / 30938.
Motion by Fogelberg supported by Wattunen to approve the July 14, 2025 minutes as submitted. Motion carried, Hoops, Wattunen, and Fogelberg voted in favor; none opposed.
