The City Council of the City of Silver Bay ordains that Chapters 1-12 of the City Code be amended.
WHEREAS, the City Council, City Administrator, City Attorney, relevant City Commissions and department supervisors engaged in a thorough review of the entire City Code to provide recommendations for necessary updates and changes due to changes in the law and the needs of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a public hearing on September 15, 2025, to take comments on the proposed amendments; and
WHEREAS, there were no public comments received at the public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Silver Bay ordains that Chapters 1-12 be amended as proposed.
WHEREAS, because of the lengthy nature of the amendments to Chapters 1-12 of the Code, the following summary of the ordinances has been approved for publication and the Council instructs that such publication occur:
Chapters 1-12 contain revisions to outdated language, outdated statutory citations, significant revisions to procedural and substantive requirements at the request of department heads and city staff and a general attempt to make the language more user friendly and understandable for the public. There are significant substantive changes to various parts of the code. Those changes are readily identifiable by reviewing the redline copy available for review at City Hall.
A printed copy of the whole ordinance is available for inspection by any person during the City’s regular office hours or on the City’s website.
WHEREAS, the effective date of the adopted ordinances will be January 1, 2026 as published.
