Valentine’s Day Chamber Music Celebration at the Grand Marais Public Library

Grand Marais, MN – The Grand Marais Public Library will host a special Valentine’s Day concert featuring the Possibilities Quartet of the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra on Friday, February 13, from 6:00– 7:30 PM. All repertoire performed will be new, offering returning patrons a fresh musical experience in an intimate setting. This event is free and open to the public. Appropriate for all ages, community members are invited to bring a friend or family member and to arrive at 5:30 PM for access to the best seats.

Formed in early 2024, the Possibilities Quartet is a regional chamber ensemble committed to bringing high-quality live music to both public audiences and schools across northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. In addition to public performances, the quartet is actively engaged in music education outreach, working with middle and high school programs through performances, masterclasses, and sectional instruction. The ensemble features musicians from the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra: Jean Leibfried, violin; Melanie Sever, flute; Charlie Leibfried, trumpet; and Deborah Rausch, horn.

This 90-minute performance will open with a classical piece, followed by a lively and engaging selection of music including opera arias, film music, Latin dance pieces, and romantic favorites. The program is designed to be engaging and welcoming to the general public, with an emphasis on performance rather than formal instruction. Audience questions will be welcomed throughout the evening.

The Grand Marais Public Library increases knowledge, inspires creativity, removes barriers, and builds community across Cook County. This concert is part of the Library’s all-ages Winter Reading Program, running now through March 27. Pick up a Bingo card or brochure at the Library and join the fun.
