Shorts in Winter Short Film Festival seeks short films & prepares for inaugural festival

Shorts in Winter Short Film Festival is seeking short films of 10 minutes or less from residents around the North Shore region of Minnesota. Anyone living in this area is encouraged to create and submit a short by October 31, 2024. Films do not have to be filmed in the North Shore and are eligible if created after January 1, 2023.

The Shorts in Winter Short Film Festival focus is to provide a new type of community event in Lake County while showcasing the unique perspectives representative of Minnesota’s North Shore region through film. The medium of film is a powerful device capable of encapsulating time, place, meaning, and feeling. The Shorts in Winter Film Festival seeks to bring voice to this region by providing a creative space for filmmakers to present the diversity, creativity, and ingenuity of its area and residents of all ages.

Festival founders Matt Bachman and Jamie MacFarlane are looking to make this event as inclusive as possible with a wide range of applicants and content and encourage submissions from all age groups: Youth (under 18), Student (18-24) and Adult (25+).
