As Earth Day approaches, First United Methodist Church (“The Coppertop,” 230 E. Skyline Parkway, Duluth) presents singer, songwriter, author, and naturalist Douglas Wood in an early Earth Day Celebration Concert on Sunday April 6 at 3:00pm in the church sanctuary. Admission is free, but a freewill donation will be taken.
Enjoy Douglas’s songs about nurturing your soul and connecting to the earth. His music evokes the beauty and mystery of the Northwoods wilderness, capturing the wild spirit of the north and our connection to it.
Douglas Wood has been called “Minnesota’s renaissance man.” He has read and performed at the White House, with full choir and orchestra at New York’s famed Lincoln Center, and many other extraordinary venues across the country. As a musician, playing guitar, banjo, mandolin, and piano, Douglas has performed his EarthSongs from coast to coast and recorded numerous albums. As an author, he is the creator of forty books for adults and children, with more than two and a half million copies in print. His first, and perhaps best known, book, Old Turtle, was hailed as a “profound work” and an “instant classic.” As a wilderness guide, he has led scores of expeditions from the Boundary Waters to the Northwest Territories.
