Cook County News-Herald and The Shore Thing Podcast Team Up For Election Night Coverage

GRAND MARAIS – Join representatives from the Cook County News-Herald and The Shore Thing Podcast for live election night coverage on YouTube.

Brian Larsen, editor of the News-Herald, and Joe Friedrichs, a host of The Shore Thing Podcast, will be live from the local newspaper office in downtown Grand Marais throughout election night. Their coverage will run from 8 p.m. until approximately 11 p.m. or later., depending on when local election results come in.

You can follow the coverage on Boreal Community Media’s YouTube channel: youtube.com/@borealcommunitymedia3850

Coverage will focus on local election results, including two seats up for election on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. The coverage will also share regional, state, and national election results. Candidate interviews as the results come in will be among the featured segments during the live event.

“We want to do something different with the election coverage,” Friedrichs said. “Don’t expect Wolf Blitzer or Tucker Carlson, here. We’re focusing on local coverage.”

Friedrichs said that in addition to Cook County election results, the longtime reporting duo will share who wins the District 3A seat currently held by Roger Skraba, the House seat representing Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District, among other races of importance to local voters.

“We’ll also say who the next president is,” Friedrichs said. “And we’ll have some coverage with an edge to it. This won’t be your bland election night coverage. Expect something different.”
