Arrowhead Eagles Open 2025 Scholarship Process

Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization at the Cook County airport now accepts applications for aviation-related scholarships. The organization will award the scholarships at its annual meeting on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The application deadline is April 18. To apply, please pick up the forms and instructions at the airport or Cook County High School, complete them, and return them to the designated drop-off point before the deadline.

Up to two $2,500 scholarships, including training materials, may be awarded. Applicants must be 15 years or older. Within a year of being awarded the scholarship, recipients must be enrolled in an aviation training program with a Certified Flight Instructor or other accredited aviation curriculum. Scholarships are limited to Cook and Lake County residents. Applicants from previous years are encouraged to apply again.

The scholarships are for anyone who dreams of an aviation career, whether it’s flight training for a pilot’s license, advanced ratings, or other exciting careers. In addition to pilot training, aviation careers include maintenance technicians, airport management, airline scheduler/ dispatcher, aviation sales, FAA air traffic controllers, airport operations, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drones) pilots and technicians, and aeronautical engineers. The sky’s the limit!

Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization is a community of individuals interested in supporting local aviation, aircraft owners, and pilots. It aims to build on Cook County’s colorful aviation tradition by promoting aviation events, airport enhancements, youth-oriented activities and opportunities, community use, and a friendly atmosphere at the Grand Marais/Cook County airport.

This is the seventh year Arrowhead has offered a scholarship, which is made possible by funds raised through the annual Eagles Fly-In/Drive-in Breakfast and private donations.

For additional scholarship information, contact Mike Raymond, President, at 218-370-0373 or Rodney Roy, Vice President, at 218-387-3024.
