Two.One.Ate Sweets and Eats Opens in Beaver Bay

Those driving through Beaver Bay might have noticed a new sign. Owned by Heidi and Chuck Thompson, Two.One.Ate is where “Scandinavian storybook charm and American comfort food join forces”. The name Two.One.Ate comes from 218, this region’s area code, but with the 8 spelled “Ate” to represent the nature of the business.

Heidi and Chuck Thompson have “worn a lot of hats, professionally speaking,” in the past, including owning a restaurant in Naples, Florida, for six years. This restaurant led them to realize that the ice cream and restaurant business is their “best fit”. Heidi said, “For a long time we have wanted to have a seasonal business in this community. I have a lot of family here, and on a visit last fall, we found the location!”

Being an artist, Heidi has made Two.One.Ate personal with examples of her art on display, including floor tiles painted into a beautiful welcome sign, and on merchandise.

Two.One.Ate’s menu features light sandwiches for breakfast and lunch, with gluten and dairy free options served all day. Also on the menu are deli salads, heat-at-home dinners, custom and ready-to-go cakes, coffee drinks, real fruit smoothies, smoothie bowls, and made-in-house ice cream. The business is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday except Tuesday, with their season running April 15th to November 15th. Heidi and Chuck’s goals are to “serve delicious food and make the best ice cream we can possibly make.”

You can find Two.One.Ate at 605 E West Towne Rd #3, Beaver Bay (previous location of Lemon Wolf Cafe).

Best wishes for Heidi, Chuck, and Two.One.Ate on their new venture. Their cozy comfort foods are sure to bring a smile to your day.

Haley Searls
Hello! My name is Haley Searls. I’ve loved writing from an early age, though my nonfiction writing at five years old consisted mainly of weather and gardening reports. I still have some of those early articles: “It’s sunny.” “It’s still sunny.” “It’s raining.” I’m glad to say my writing has improved since then. I wrote a guest post for the Silver Bay Public Library blog, and was the writer/editor of the newsletter for my American Heritage Girls troop. I have been writing for the North Shore Journal since June 2022. Besides writing, I love reading, drawing, photography, music, and spending time with family and friends. Two books that have really influenced my writing are Reforming Journalism by Marvin Olasky and Writer to Writer by Bodie and Brock Thoene. As a journalist, I want to share positive community interactions and inspire people to make lasting connections. Article topics that interest me are ones which show community activities and involvement. Such articles include community events, youth accomplishments, library programming, small businesses, local history, local artists and authors, art programs, and cultural events such as theater and dance. If you have an article idea, email the North Shore Journal with my name in the subject line! I look forward to hearing from you!
