Two Harbors Community Radio has collaborated with Nutmeg Junction Audio Theater in the production of “Death Comes for the DJ”, a radio play written by J. Timothy Quirk. The play is set at our local community radio station and features the voices of 10 KTWH volunteers supporting the two main characters of the ongoing Barnaby Druthers mystery series, British detective Barnaby and his intellectual sidekick, Harper Thorne. The play’s premier broadcast will be Monday, March 3, at 1pm, on KTWH 99.5FM and streaming at ktwh.org. Encore broadcasts will air Thursday, March 6, at 8:30am and at 7:00pm.
KTWH has been carrying Nutmeg Junction productions for several years. Its programs air at 1:00pm several weekdays each week. For this special broadcast the volunteer cast members gathered in the cozy KTWH studio to record their lines. Then the recording was sent off to J. Timothy Quirk at Nutmeg Junction to be edited, including the addition of the voices of Humphry Rolleston and Devon Richtmeyer, the series’ usual leads, plus sound effects and music.
Two Harbors Community Radio first produced radio theater for its inaugural Cabin Fever Reliever fundraiser in 2015. The group looks forward to more collaborative productions with Nutmeg Junction in the coming months.
