Highway 61 Intersection Work South of Two Harbors began July 22nd

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation started work on Highway 61 at intersections on the expressway south of Two Harbors on July 22. Work will start with constructing a reduced conflict intersection at Homestead Road, then proceed northwards with construction of left turn lanes at Alseth Road (southbound only), Salakka Road (northbound and southbound), Short Road (northbound and southbound), and Sannes Road (northbound and southbound).

Motorists can expect lane closures and reduced speeds on Highway 61. The Homestead Road intersection will be detoured using County Road 61/ North Shore Drive, Alseth Road, and Old North Shore Road. The detour is expected to last through the end of August. All intersection work is expected to be complete at the end of September.
