AT&T Boosts Network Speeds for Two Harbors

Network Expansion along the North Shore will help give AT&T customers better access to Mobile Internet

TWO HARBORS, Minn., Jan. 31, 2023

What’s the news? AT&T* customers and FirstNet® subscribers along the North Shore got a big boost in wireless connectivity. They’ve added a new cell tower in Two Harbors to enhance mobile broadband coverage and help give residents and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service.

This new site near the Little Stewart River will provide coverage when traveling along County Highways 2 and 12 in the area. The investment will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices. .

Why is this important? AT&T knows how important it is for their customers to stay connected. That’s why they’re also boosting network reliability and capacity as they expand their network. This helps Minnesota residents get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play. And it’s giving first responders on FirstNet – America’s public safety network – access to always-on, 24-hours-a-day priority and preemption across voice and data.

These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared just for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s coverage and capacity.

Committed to their Minnesota communities: From 2019 to 2021, they’ve invested nearly $400 million in their wireless and wireline networks in Minnesota. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.

Paul Weirtz, President of AT&T Minnesota, stated, “From connecting family and loved ones to helping first responders during a crisis, AT&T is committed to our Minnesota communities. We consistently work to provide better coverage for our customers and public safety across the state, including in the Two Harbors area. And we’re investing in our wireless network to accomplish that.”
