SAINT PAUL, Minn. –- After 23 years of member service, Jerry Hostetter, Two Harbors Federal Credit Union’s Vice President of Operations, is retiring. His last day will be March 1st, during which the credit union will host an open house during regular business hours. The public is invited to stop by and wish Jerry well in retirement. Refreshments will be served.
“It’s hard to imagine our credit union without Jerry,” said THFCU President/CEO Randy Willert, “He has been such a part of our fabric for so long, you just expect to see him in his office every day, visiting and working with our members.”
Hostetter began his career with THFCU in 2001 as Operations Supervisor. He had moved to the Two Harbors area a few years earlier from Valdez, Alaska. Upon his retirement from the Coast Guard in 1998, Jerry dabbled in a few other careers before settling on the credit union industry.
“Things were different in those days,” recalled Hostetter, “only two employees – our CEO and Bookkeeper had workstations. The rest of the staff had terminals dialed directly to our core system. They had no other computer capability outside of processing transactions.”
The credit union has come a long way since then, equipping staff with the latest software and delivering services to thousands of members through digital and mobile channels. Today, THFCU members can do everything from depositing checks with their mobile devices to instantly transferring money anywhere in the world.
And Jerry has been a part of it all, working alongside other THFCU leadership on not just technical upgrades but several other improvements as well, including the launch of countless new services and the construction of the credit union’s location on 11th Street in Two Harbors.
Outside of THFCU, Hostetter has remained visible in the community, serving as Secretary-Treasurer of the North Shore Classics Car Club and as Director on the Lake County Historical Society Board of Directors.
What’s next for Jerry? Time will tell, but immediate plans are to take things easy and enjoy the change of seasons. “Being retired will take getting used to,” he said. “I’m going to miss my days working alongside some truly outstanding people at THFCU.”
