For years, the AmericInn in Silver Bay with its “mile slide challenge” and annual Mall of AmericInn has been a fixture in Silver Bay. But on August 1, the contract held by the hotel with AmericInn and Wyndham expired. The hotel renamed itself “Black Beach Inn” and joined the GrandStay Hospitality chain of hotels.
GrandStay is a growing Minnesota-based company. With locations in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Oregon, the chain boasts a culture of “honesty, integrity, and an expectation of excellence,” and describes itself as “small but growing.”
Black Beach Inn aims to provide exceptional lodging and guest services. They will also seek to improve the “overall experience” with updated rooms and facilities. “We are an excellent destination for outdoor enthusiasts,” General Manager Jeff Daniel said.
When asked what some main differences would be now that the hotel is Black Beach Inn, Daniel commented that there would be many differences. Marketing will be improved, and Black Beach Inn will create a distinct identity in Silver Bay and on the North Shore.
In December 2021, Jeff Daniel became the general manager of the hotel and will continue to serve as General Manager of Black Beach Inn.
On August 28th, Black Beach Inn celebrated its grand reopening with light refreshments and a door prize drawing, won by Whitney and Deb.
Black Beach Inn is conveniently located within walking distance of Black Beach and Lake Superior. A miniature golf is located on adjoining property and across the road is the North Shore Adventure Park. The inn is just a short drive from Palisade Head and Tettegouche State Park; and just a hop, skip, and a jump into Silver Bay proper for food and necessities. Snowmobile and ATV trails lead right to the inn’s parking lot. No matter the season, Black Beach Inn can be a starting point for your North Shore adventures.
