Fire Damages Two Harbors Lighthouse Gift Shop Building

A fire broke out Monday evening, November 2, damaging the gift shop building near the Two Harbors Light Station.

It is believed the fire started in a breezeway connecting the historic gift shop building to an adjacent structure.

While the gift shop building sustained significant damage, it is located in a detached structure separate from the main lighthouse tower, which was spared any damage.

No one was inside the building when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported.

Dozens of firefighters from the area were on hand for several hours to extinguish the fire. Representatives from the Lake County Historical Society, which operates the museum site, expressed deep gratitude to the responding fire crews.

At press time, an investigation into the fire’s official cause is underway, and limited details are available.
