Karen Brostrom, age 76, passed away at Milestone Senior Living Center in Woodruff, WI on October 13, 2026. Karen was born in Winona, MN, the first child of Roy and Kay Andersen. She graduated from Winona Senior High School and continued her education at St. Theresa College in Winona, MN, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Karen married Reverend Dennis Brostrom in 1979. She continued nursing and worked in several locations in MN, CA and SD. Karen and Dennis retired in 2016 and resided in Silver Bay, MN. Following her husband’s death in 2021, and with a diagnosis of dementia, she moved to Milestone Senior Living Memory Care in Woodruff, WI to be near her sister.
Karen is survived by sister, Lisa (Reverand Thomas Reiff) in Arbor Vitae, WI, brother Erik (Laurie) in Plymouth, MN, brother-in-law John Brostrom (Stephanie) in Duluth, MN, sister-in-law Sue Brostrom in Minneapolis, MN, and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral will be held on October 26 at 11:00 at Faith Lutheran Church in Silver Bay, MN. She will be buried next to her husband at Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors, MN. Memorials may be designated for Faith Lutheran Church, Silver Bay, MN.
