Manor Ollman, a 2022 graduate from William Kelly High School in Silver Bay, is the first student to be awarded a scholarship from the AmericInn of Silver Bay. Manor has been an employee at the hotel since 2019 and worked a total of 1,296.2 hours. A check for $972.15 has been sent to the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where Manor is enrolled in the Legal Studies/Criminal Justice Program, to assist in paying his fall semester tuition.
Since its inception, the AmericInn Silver Bay has depended on and benefited from the hard work of high school students to work as Pool Attendants, Housekeepers, and sometimes Front Desk Associates. A scholarship program seems to be the perfect way for the hotel to thank them, assist them in future endeavors, and hopefully encourage them to work with the hotel throughout their high school years.
The scholarship program was designed to benefit a large number of employees and to be non-competitive academically, because really, all a student has to do to qualify is to put in the time. The criteria for a student to receive a scholarship grant are to work a minimum of 700 hours at the hotel throughout their high school years, to graduate high school while employed at the AmericInn Silver Bay and to confirm enrollment into a college, technical school or vocational program.
Students Manor Ollman awarded first AmericInn-Silver Bay Student Employee Scholarship By Michael Giuliano who meet the criteria will be awarded 50 cents for every hour they worked up to 1,000 hours. Students who work 1,000 or more hours will receive 75 cents for every hour they worked.
Students who continue to work at the hotel while enrolled in a post high school education will continue to earn scholarship money on their hours. Congratulations, Manor!
