Beginning July 1, 2026, Lake County Veterans Services will continue serving Veterans, families, and survivors in Silver Bay from a new office located inside North Shore Area Partners (NSAP), 36 Shopping Center Road.
The move follows the planned closure of the Lake County Silver Bay Service Center in the Mary MacDonald Building on June 30. While the Silver Bay Service Center is closing, Veterans Services is not leaving Silver Bay. Our commitment to serving the Veteran community remains unchanged.
Veterans Services plans to continue holding office hours in Silver Bay on Wednesdays by appointment. Since County employees are only present during scheduled office hours, appointments ensure staff are available when you arrive and help prevent confusion for visitors seeking County services.
It is important to understand that this office is not a replacement for the former Silver Bay Service Center. County employees will not be regularly stationed at the building, and walk-in County services will not be available.
North Shore Area Partners has generously provided office space to help Lake County maintain a local presence in Silver Bay. However, NSAP staff are not County employees and cannot assist with County business. They are unable to schedule appointments, answer questions about County services, accept documents, or take phone messages for County departments.
To make document delivery easier, Lake County will maintain a secure document drop box outside the NSAP office. The drop box will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for County-related documents. Items placed in the drop box will be collected during the normal business week and routed to the appropriate County department.
Whether you prefer to meet in person, speak by telephone, communicate by email, or send information by mail, Veterans Services remains available to assist with benefits, claims, and other Veteran-related needs. The new Silver Bay location simply provides another convenient option for scheduled appointments while allowing Lake County to continue serving residents throughout the North Shore.
To schedule an appointment with Lake County Veterans Services, call 218-834-8326 or 218-220-6273, or email Vets@LakeCountyMN.gov. We look forward to continuing to serve the Veterans, families, and survivors of the Silver Bay area from our new location.
As we approach Independence Day, our nation will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Regardless of how you choose to celebrate, I hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on the generations of Americans—including countless Veterans and service members—who have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy today. Have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July.
