Imholte Earns Academic All‑American Honor

Two Harbors student-athlete Bella Imholte has been recognized by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America All America Team. Over 353,936 students are involved in over 17,545 programs for boys and girls at a high school level. Of these, approximately 2% of students are recognized as All American.

“Bella’s achievement is a powerful reminder that the student always comes before the athlete,” said Heather Mayfield. “Balancing the demands of high-level athletics with rigorous academic expectations is no small task, and Bella has demonstrated remarkable discipline, focus, and character in excelling at both. Her success speaks to the values she brings to everything she does: dedication, accountability, and a drive to be her best in and out of the pool.”

Athletes must achieve the published NISCA All-America time standards in a sanctioned high school meet. The top 100 fastest times in each event are recognized. The nominee must also have a minimum of a 3.75 GPA, be a graduating senior, and letter in their sport.

Mayfield submitted the nomination for Imholte and said the recognition reflects the work Imholte puts in on both sides of her life.

“As a coach, I firmly believe that our responsibility extends far beyond athletic development,” said Mayfield. “Supporting our athletes’ academic journeys is just as important as preparing them for competition. That means encouraging strong study habits, reinforcing the importance of education, and helping student‑athletes identify and pursue opportunities that recognize their hard work in the classroom. Assisting athletes like Bella with academic award nominations is one way we can ensure their full efforts are seen and celebrated.”

She said those opportunities matter, especially for athletes who take on the challenge of meeting high academic standards while competing in a demanding sport.

“Bella’s Academic All American recognition is well deserved, and it sets an outstanding example for her teammates and peers,” said Mayfield. “She represents the very best of what it means to be a student athlete—proving that success is greatest when achievement in sport is matched by excellence in academics.”

She noted that Imholte’s consistency is what makes the recognition resonate.

“Congratulations, Bella, on this incredible accomplishment. Your hard work, commitment, and balance continue to raise the standard for everyone around you,” Mayfield said.
