Robert Martin Lorntson Sr., 99, passed away Friday January 16, 2026. He was born in Duluth, August 29, 1926 to Evelyn (nee Mabe) and Arthur O. Lorntson.
He attended school in Beaver Bay and Two Harbors, Mn.
Bob married Georgianna in 1951, together had 7 children. Christine Johnson (Clifford, d), Mary Harp (Arnold), Susie Johnson (Tom), Arthur, Josie Strand (Steve), Rob- ert Jr, Theresa Walker (Allen, d). Extended family Missy Lorntson and Alan Anderson. Many nieces and nephews.
Bob worked for his parents at the Lornt- son Cafe in Beaver Bay. He made fish box- es for commercial fishermen on the North Shore, harvested ice from Lake Superior (before refrigeration), owned Bob’s pro- pane gas, did railroad surveying for the tac- onite industry, worked at Reserve Mining, a park attendant at Tettegouch State Park. He enjoyed working the cattle farm with his father and sons. He was one of the “coffee guys” at the Holiday in Beaver Bay. He had many friends and will be missed by all.
Bob liked to play Bingo, was always ready for a game of cribbage, a good joke, a cup of coffee, pickled herring, a sweet treat and maybe a lottery scratch ticket.
Bob is survived by his children. 22 grand- children, 31 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Extended family Missy Lorntson and Alan Anderson. Preceded in death by his wife Georgianna (nee Stock- inger), brother Leonard (Leona, d), sons in law Clifford Johnson and Allen Walker, grandson Lucas, and great grandsons Gabe and River.
