LAKE COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MINUTES TWO HARBORS LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER JANUARY 12, 2026

The Lake County Board of Adjustment sat in session at 1:00 p.m. on this date and conducted hearings and other business.

Motion by Hippert supported by Wattunen to nominate Michael Hoops as Chair for the 2026 Board of Adjustment term. Motion carried, Fogelberg, Hippert, and Wattunen voted in favor; none opposed.

Motion by Hoops supported by Wattunen to nominate Beth Hippert as Vice-Chair for the 2026 Board of Adjustment term. Motion carried, Hoops, Fogelberg, Wattunen, and Hippert voted in favor, none opposed. 

Motion by Hoops supported by Hippert to nominate Environmental Services as secretary for the 2026 Board of Adjustment term. Motion carried, Hoops Wattunen, and Hippert voted in favor; none opposed. 

V-26-001– Motion by Hoops supported by Hippert to table the request until the March 9th Board of Adjustment hearing. The request was for relief from the Erosion Hazard Area setback to rebuild and expand a nonconforming cabin in the Shore Impact Zone. (Land Use Ordinance #12, Article 7, Section 7.11A) and relief from the lot width requirement, the height maximum, and the Erosion Hazard Area setback for an after-the-fact guest quarters (Land Use Ordinance #12, Article 7, Section 7.06 & 7.11A). The request was filed by James & Elizabeth Page. The property in question is located at 1842 Hwy 61, Two Harbors, MN 55616 and is legally described as: Outlots 1-5 Govt Lot 1 in Section 21, Township 53, Range 10 4.42 acres, zones shoreland (Lake Superior), R-4/Residential District, 2 acre minimum, Silver Creek Township. PID 29- 5310-21195. 

Motion by Hoops supported by Wattunen to approve the December 8, 2025 minutes as submitted. Motion carried, Hoops, Hippert, and Wattunen voted in favor; none opposed. 

Motion by Wattunen supported by Hippert to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried, Hoops, Hippert, and Wattunen voted in favor; none opposed. Meeting adjourned at 2:13 p.m.
