On Saturday, July 12th, the Trestle Inn invited patrons to come out and enjoy a night of food, music, dancing, entertainment, and fire. The upstairs of the Trestle Inn was transformed with a beautiful ambiance. During dinner, guests were serenaded by the Fandazzi band, with very entertaining and extremely talented musicians. Once dinner was complete, the eager and excited crowd gathered outside for the amazing fire show. The Fandazzi Fire Circus tied excitement, comedy, music, dance, and danger into their performance, which included whips, hula hoops & batons on fire. They were blowing fire, eating fire, and much more! Throughout the show, the audience would cheer “More Fire!” to get the Fire Circus performers to do bigger and larger fire acts. It was a fun way to interact with them during the wonderful and amazing show.
The Fandazzi Fire Circus performs often at the Renaissance Festival. They have even broken the Guinness World Record numerous times, including Fastest Fire Eater in the World and the Most Fireballs Blown in 30 seconds. The Fire Circus has incredible skills and talents. Their performances are unforgettable, and guests left wanting more fire!
The Trestle Inn started the Trestle Arts in order to fill a gap that was missing once the Lake County Arts Board disbanded. Last year, the Trestle Inn held an Irish Evening with Irish Pipers. This year was the Fandazzi Fire Circus. Co-owner of the Trestle, Sue hopes to be able to
bring at least one art performance evening to the Northwoods every year. She also would like to offer some art classes in the north woods. All the proceeds raised during the event went towards the nonprofit Trestle Arts. The mission of this corporation is to provide opportunities for artistic development in a wilderness setting at and around the historic Trestle Inn for the benefit of artists and the greater community of Finland, Minnesota. Some examples of that would be the Night of Fire event and the Irish Pipers. Trestle Arts makes an effort to bring in a group or an artist to perform that would not normally be in our region. They are also working on providing unique classes like leather working, jewelry making, painting, and much more. A longer term goal is to eventually build some studio space for local artists to use. In order to create art and access some equipment that they would not normally have in a home studio. Another long-term project Trestle Arts is working towards is an artist in residency program. Artists from all around the world will have the opportunity to come, stay, and work on a project in exchange; they will give a reception and/or a workshop for the local community. If you would like to donate to this nonprofit organization, you can send a check to: 9459 County High-way 7, Finland, MN 55603. Checks can be made out to ‘Trestle Arts’. Check out Trestle Inn’s Facebook page for other upcoming events they are having. The Finnminster Dog Show is Saturday, August 16th. That is a great fundraiser for the local animal shelter and a fun event for all dog lovers! Saturday of Labor Day weekend, the Trestle Inn will be having a Labor Day Street Dance. Princess Toe Jam will be playing, so stop by and join in the fun!
