Caitlin Martineau, a Silver Bay resident and a long-time employee of the park, has been promoted to a new position of In-House Inspector this year. She has worked at the park since it opened in 2019, said Alice Tibbetts, the park owner.
“Caitlin is one of our most valued employees; she demonstrates how much people learn and grow when they continue working for the park,” Tibbetts said. Now in her seventh year, Caitlin says she is stronger and more confident than she ever imagined. She started out as a host and described herself as very shy. Today, she is a leader and coach of other staff.
“This job really exceeded my expectations,” she said. “I never thought I could be on the air team, much less have this level of training, knowledge and responsibility for the course,” she said.
Caitlin’s new job is to monitor the entire course and trees to flag issues and concerns. She will be qualified in May through a certification exam provided by the Association of Adventure Course Technology (ACCT), an international trade association. ACCT is the world’s leading advocate, educator and standards developer for the Challenge Course industry.
The park also hired its first new manager in four years. The previous manager, Colin Lynch, established systems, discipline, and protocols. “We are excited to hire Grace Trout, who has experience in the field,” Tibbetts said. “She has been a supervisor at the University of Central Florida’s challenge course and is completing her degree in Industrial Engineering.”

Grace will work just this season, but the park hopes others learn from her experience and are willing to step into the manager role next year. The manager is responsible for all park operations, including maintaining systems and safety, customer service, and creating a positive work culture where every employee can thrive and every guest can have a positively memorable experience.
The park is open Memorial Day through October and hires 5-8 employees each year. It provides all training, whether folks want to work at height or prefer to stay on the ground. To work at the park, apply here.
The North Shore Adventure park is the only forest-based high ropes and zipline course in Minnesota. Located one hour north of Duluth in Silver Bay on Highway 61, it includes 75 climbing elements, 10 integrated ziplines, a signature 400- foot dual racing zipline, a toddler play area for ages 3-6 and a 5-lane competitive quality outdoor axe throwing facility. It was built by vendors hired by local resident Alice Tibbetts in 2019 on vacant city property.
