Violence Prevention Center Reschedules Film Fundraising Event

The VPC’s annual film fundraising event, Beyond the Reel, has been rescheduled for April 5th, after being postponed due to a winter storm.

The Violence Prevention Center is thrilled to announce that a new date has been selected for our annual film fundraising event. Beyond the Reel, which was postponed last month due to a winter storm, will now be held on Saturday, April 5th at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts (51 W. 5th Street, Grand Marais).

Doors open at 5:30pm for a social hour, which will feature live music, an impressive spread of hors d’oeuvres from local food vendors, and a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses. The 2025 Joan Drury Award will be presented at 6:30pm, followed by a screening of this year’s film, titled Loud Enough – Surviving Justice, a 60-minute documentary detailing the experience of one sexual assault survivor in her pursuit of justice. In conjunction with the film screening, we are excited to welcome former Cook County Attorney Molly Hicken as a guest speaker for this year’s event. Hicken will be joining us to share her insight into victims’ experiences in the criminal justice system and to help us understand the theme of this year’s film within a local context.

Join us at Beyond the Reel on April 5th to support the VPC’s work providing free and confidential advocacy services to victims/ survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
