Hockey Season Wraps up for Boys Varsity Players and Mite Teams

The North Shore Storm varsity boys hockey team’s season came to an end at the Hibbing Memorial Arena during the Class 1A, Section 7 Quarterfinal. The playoff game resulted in a shutout for the no. 3 seed Hibbing/Chisholm. The Storm finished the year with a record of 10-16-0.

Meanwhile, the Mite teams are wrapping up their seasons. The Two Harbors Youth Hockey Mite 1 team played three games in the DAHA Jamboree at the Heritage Center in Duluth from February 22nd to February 23rd.

“We really had a great season,” wrote Cynthia Poyhonen, the Mite 1 Team Lead. “The kids improved so much from the beginning to the end of the season. They learned to play as a team, scored some goals, and, most importantly, had fun.”

The Mites also participated in parents vs. kids game nights before the DAHA Jamboree.

“Both teams skated hard against their parents,” wrote Kiera Wilson, Mite Team Manager. “The parents and kids had a great time playing each other.”

With all the jamborees, outdoor games, ice time at the Amsoil Arena, and the parents vs. kids games, the Mites have had plenty of time on their skates and smiles on their faces.

“We had a great group of coaches and could not have done it without the kids’ grown-ups! We thank each and every one of them. We’ll see you next year at the rink!” Poyhonen said.
