In the article published in the January 3rd edition of the Northshore Journal, I mistakenly wrote that “property tax rates are set by the County Assessor”. This is incorrect. Tax rates are calculated by the County Auditor. These calculations are based on a number of factors, including budgets being levied, individual property class rates and assessed property values. We strive for accuracy in the information we publish and appreciate it when readers point out mistakes. I apologize for this error and any confusion it may have caused.
